I cannot, for the life of me, make a roux.
Not sure what it is about it that eludes me, but any gravy I make from scratch just ends up really sad.
There's been times I've not cooked it enough and didn't reach a boil. Sometimes I've flat out burnt it. Usually it seems I over-flour. No one wants soupy flour on their potatoes.
I'll keep trying though. One day I'll make gravy all by myself. Until then, I'll just keep doctoring up powder packets and cheap jarred gravy (which comes out awesome, btw).
