Dat Pillsbury

Once again, I had a hard couple days,
and Husband swooped in to cheer me up with kisses and treats.
Specifically, baked treats.

Sweet, mo'fuggin' orange rolls!!

They have recently worked their way to my current cravings list as a favorite.
Orange rolls were originally reserved for Christmas morning,
but I've been in Louisiana the last few holidays.

When I was growing up,
Mom would always make special breakfasts on Christmas.
It was one of many gestures she did to make the holiday special,
by preparing our favorite morning foods.
It was the only time she'd get orange rolls for me.

Just the smell of them puts me back in my flannel pajamas,
sprinting down the hallway to a living room filled with Christmas joy,
and the promise of delicious breakfast before diving into our stockings.

So not only do orange rolls make me happy because they're tasty,
but also help me put things in perspective with a quick flash to my childhood.

For all these things, I must say -
Thank you, Pillsbury, for making Husband-proof baked pastries!
