One of the faster developing technologies today is storage/playback devices.
I'm talking about the cavernous leaps I've seen in my life from VHS to disc to flash drive to direct streaming.
More and more, information and entertainment is becoming computerized. Go to your living room, and really think about the devices in there. I'd bet you almost half are computer-like technologies.
It's pretty impressive, another case of living in the future.
One of my favorite conveniences brought by this stuff is TV on DVD.
The most common reason people like this option is the pretty normal hatred of commercials.
Not to mention, the ability to pause, stop, and come back later at your own pace and your own schedule. No more, "Gotta hurry home to see my stories!"
Increasingly, with my impatience for anything, and my need for non-physical tasks, it's great that I can just gorge on whole seasons of a show at once. I can't stand watching them a week apart anymore.

I'm kind of dying to see this season of NCIS, since Ziva is leaving and I want to see how that goes, but after the deep betrayal of Dexter's finale, I just can't bear the thought of another drawn out season.
I've mentioned before that I may be doing weekly reviews of shows, movies, and books, which is another reason stored files are better. I get to have them forever, and when I start writing, I can refresh on the content.
I'm pretty lucky that Husband already has a pretty extensive collection of shows already, with classics like Cheers, X-Files, MASH, and Star Trek. ALL the Star Trek.
I'll leave you with that little adventure in mind, and the gratitude I have for these conveniences, as they will help me write awesome things next month! Yay technology!
