Day Four: If LA and SF Had a Baby...

If Los Angeles and San Francisco had a baby and raised it in the Midwest, it would be Oklahoma City. First of all, it's just beautiful, and second, it's hospitable to the artistic.
My first stop in my tour of this humid city was the Oklahoma City Memorial.

I really didn't have a strong comprehension of the event, as I was barely finishing kindergarten back then.

Across the street from there is a small dedication from the cathedral.

Upon leaving the eerily silent memorial, I sought out some cheerier atmosphere in The Paseo. Unfortunately, art doesn't work on Mondays, so I saw zilch.
Instead, I found myself at a local diner full of my kind of people behind the counter.

I did not manage to get permission to photograph the crew, however they had just opened and all seven of them were hanging out with me at the counter, discussing our almost hispter graphic t-shirts.

In and among the chipper socializing, I got to eat a burger from a cow I may have met on my way in!
I joke of course, but the selling point on this particular one is that it's made from cows locally farmed, grass-fed, and humanely cared for. It tasted like a happy cow.

What really resonates with me was their chocolate sheet cake. They offered for me to try it, especially when I gave them "kitty face" and scowled at the idea of paying for something I could make at home.

I could not make this at home.

Despite the thin layer of cake, it was moist and spongy throughout, with a frosting so damned chocolatey it bordered on fudge without being too sugary. Another slice of heaven on a plate.

To be continued...
