Day Six: Arrival and Arrival

So, after some miscommunication and botched plans, I found myself in Savannah. Unknown to me was that as I simultaneously arrived, my brother and his wife had left for the hospital. Since her contractions had just started, they sent me to the house to wait in what would end up being two days melded into one.

Of course, since I had driven quite a few hours at this point, I needed to relieve myself. I took a speedy seat, and didn't bother to close the door since I thought I was alone.
Thought.

I might have been terrified of those glowing eyes if I didn't already know about my sister-in-laws' misanthropic cats, Zippy and Mia. Zippy is a dreadfully shy kitty, who uses his very black fur to his advantage by skittering in the shadows. Mia just does not like anyone that isn't my sister-in-law, which is adorably loyal but also a hazard for my hands. As my brother and the wife say, Mia is a professional feelings hurter. Kind of reminds me of someone else's indoor pet...

Smokey, the dog who can't decide if she hates me or not
I didn't take it too personally when they opted not to be my friends. Around midnight my brother and the wife returned, as the hospital had discharged them since things weren't rolling along enough yet. Not but twenty minutes later, her water broke and they hit the road again, delivering their beautiful son, Griffin Michael, on July 10th at 7:48 AM.
