The Hungry Games

I know there's only supposed to be one Thanksgiving Day, but I had a lot a lot of Thanksgivings.

My deconstructed Cherpumple has evolved. I've realized now that all I'm really doing is making fruit filled cupcakes, and I'm okay with it. My apple spice ones came out really pretty this year.

I made an army of cakes, which turned out well since we had three Thanksgivings out of the almost six we were invited to this year.

First there was Dad's family, on the actual holiday. I came across him checking out the etchings on his glass, posed ever to aesthetically, so of course I had to take a photo. He's just so pretty!

The way of the Pollock is to basically socialize as close to the food as possible, which means in the kitchen.

I'm kind of in love with a lot of the decor at my Palmdale relative's house. I got a little camera crazy, but narrowed it down to the actual holiday stuff for you nice people.

It was a really nice evening, filled with food, wine, elbow rubbing, and fun.
I spent most of my time goofing around with cousins and trying to make people laugh. That's almost a sport now with Dad's family - seeing who can be the most clever with their humor. It eventually devolved into polite conversation, and Husband and I skedaddled.

That weekend we got together with Mom's side of the family. It's become a bit of a tradition since we're all spread across marriages, as well as work schedules, to delay our holiday until the following weekend.
With Husband in the mix, I spend a lot of time on the front porch now with him and my grandparents. They love telling stories, and he loves listening, especially since they all drink beer and smoke while they do it.

This side of the family is pretty ethnically mixed, with a lot of European, Native American, and even some Hispanic lineage. My point here, is that it means delicious, delicious food. They have mastered what they like, and we are all in agreement about what that is. I kind of really love holidays with this side of the family.
Sadly in my excitement I seem to have failed to photograph any of that glorious carnage.

Sorry about that.

My sister was pretty happy, since our Great Grandma was having a good day. She's almost 100, and still going strong despite a touch of Alzheimer's. They seem to have a friendship, since Great Gran is always pleased to see her. It seems anytime we are with Mom's family now I can find my sister at her side.

It was a nice visit, despite putting Husband and I out of commision for a day or two. This is why we had three holiday feasts instead of many more. We just can't physically handle being out and about that much when both of us are now having back problems. (More on that later)

Round three actually managed to top both of these events, primarily because it was with my soulmate.
We all got together in comfort wear, drank way too much, and basically had an awesome time hanging out and enjoying the comfort food of the holiday.
Even their Khaleesi had fun, as you can see, with the boys.

It was a good day.
