Lives in Your Hands

A train wreck. A literal train wreck. Messes everywhere.
This situation right here gave me the chills. There's the obvious heeby-jeebies that comes from seeing two people shish-kebabed together, and then there's the fallout that comes with that. Yikes.

I almost cannot believe how mellow these two are through the whole ordeal. I like to think I'd be that guy, cracking jokes and making everyone feel hopeful about the situation, but at the same time I know that kind of trauma is almost guaranteed to be fatal, so I might just cry like a baby.

How do you decide who gets to live and who has to die?
It's not a question I ever hope to face, however I feel like Burke made the most logical call here. I've always held a more utilitarian stance when it comes to issues like this. It all comes down to numbers - statistics, probabilities, and loss vs gain. From the damage in that situation it was barely possible to save one of them, much less both, so as hard as it is to swallow, the best course was to dedicate their resources to the most probable survivor. It was still pretty hard to watch Meredith's struggle with letting go of one to save the other.
How would you decide? Do you agree with their course of action?
