Yeah, this whole story arc was just entirely too juvenile for me to take seriously. I cringed my way through it, but it just didn't sit well with me at all. How is Callie embarrassed after Izzie making such an idiot of herself? Callie did nothing wrong, in any part of this situation. It's just literally unbelievable.
I wouldn't say the issues here are necessarily abusive or manipulative, but there is definitely a sense of codependency here. The girlfriend has gone to such an extreme to lose weight for her boyfriend that she has malnourished herself into osteoporosis (and eventually death). At first, this seems like an almost obsessive dedication to health, and even maybe requited, as the boyfriend pledged to quit smoking and get healthier with her - until we catch him smoking. Whatta dick.
So, how far is too far? What lengths are too much for the sake of your relationship?
If that isn't enough mixed rage, Camille is back for a final time with another recurrence of cancer. Once again, how much is too much? When is it okay to quit? I feel for the poor girl. We all have only so much fight in us, and who wants to face the same battle, knowing this time you'll likely lose? It was a sad, but brave decision on her part.
