Day One: What The F Was I Thinking?

And so it begins, my grueling journey across the United States, coast to coast, in an effort to welcome my brother's child into the world.
Yes, it's the national day of our independence, and thus I encountered some notable acts of freedom from the get-go.
This truck screams, "Murica!"

Not sure what SwagWagon means, but I wanna be in it.

My first stop for gas, snacks, and a potty break, was an unique McDonald's location.

Nothing says freedom like games while you eat.
I always wanted to live in a Happy Meal box!
Many long, desert filled hours later, I arrived in New Mexico, immediately regretting the amount of time I just spent behind the wheel. With my leg throbbing in protest, I checked in to the nearest cheap place I could find, and again found myself regretting my decision-making skills.

A hole under the sink, making convenient transit for NATURE.

Had I showered here, I probably would have needed a tetanus shot.

Is this the set from... any horror movie ever?

Since I over-committed myself, and actually fell short of where I planned to stop (yes, I'm dumb) I only had Taco Bell available to eat. Admittedly, the guy running the drive thru was really nice, so that was a positive way to end the night. Also, I got to watch Law&Order and CSI reruns.
