Dip Your Wick in Lavender Goodness

One of my more rage-inducing moments is when I see a perfect pin on Pinterest, only to click it and find out the only part pinned is an image.
No directions. No step by step. Just the picture.

One in particular made me incredibly angry. Luckily it's been replaced by better pinners since then.

I had seen the WallFlower plug in bulbs, and knew there had to be a way to refill them. I was raised to be a penny-pincher, so anywhere I can cut corners excites me. Off to pinterest I went, in search of what I assumed would be many pins by smarter, more innovative housewives breaking down how to do it for us simpletons.

I was so very wrong.

All I could find was one pin, titled, "You can refill your plug-ins!" With an image of a well-manicured hand holding a WallFlower bulb. That was it.

So naturally I reacted as I often do, and proceeded to throw a short hissy fit.

After I recovered from my mature display, I grabbed the toolbox and decided to figure it out myself.

Diffuser Oil
Essential Oil

I purchased both of these, and opted to experiment with the diffuser oil first, since it was the most cost-efficient choice.

That is the hardest part, getting a proper grip and yanking that bitch of a wick out.

I filled the bulb about one quarter of the way with the oil, then topped it off with water and popped the wick back in.

  1. How's it working? And have you made a proper pin yet?

I, too, HATE bad pins. I've got a personal board that's more like a collage of images, where I'll go ahead and pin the pretty pictures no matter if they work or not, BUT I check every pin on my "professional" board to make sure it's a good link. If it's not, I've been known to hunt for an hour to find an equivalent pin-able and post it instead.

    1. It burned through a little faster than the "from the store" mix, but I imagine it's because the ratio of oil to water is much lower. I'm thinking of grabbing some tea tree and vanilla oils to make a nice scent that helps clean the air since the lavender has been an effective bug repellant.

I did not even consider making a pin! That was pretty inconsiderate on my part, thanks Renae. :-)

Is your pretty board "private" or just labelled differently? I have almost 20 boards right now, and have considered making a few private since they don't serve my page well.

  2. Actually, I keep 2 Pinterest accounts. All the pins at http://www.pinterest.com/rrudeparanormal/ are good. (Or at least they starred out good, they do occasionally fail when someone takes down content.)

I started on Pinterest, though, using my normal identity. (Having written that, I now feel like a superhero.) Over there, I just pin willy-nilly mostly. (http://www.pinterest.com/renaemariepins/)

    What's your address?

    1. Haha, I love the idea of a SuperHero Blogger Identity!
I'm at Pinterest.com/fallintrust, but now that you bring up having a personal and a blogger account, I may have to consider that too.
