For a lot of you sensible folks, this is already done, and for some of you other sensible folks, take a look at your usage and really consider/calculate how much you need.
Do you really benefit from bundling, or having a contract? Can your company work with you by analyzing your usage and offering a smaller plan?
I
found out that switching to an automatically renewing pay-as-you-go
plan was best for me, since my usage has dropped significantly after
becoming unemployed.
You may find that you don't need
unlimited minutes, or texting, or even data, because maybe you don't
call much, or only have an average of 500 messages each month, or
generally use wi-fi, and only need 1GB of data for when you're at work
or commuting.
It's
a bit of work, but even I, an already frugal woman, found a way to
shave upwards of $250 this year on cell service by finding a plan in
which I only pay for what I use.
The same can be done for internet.
Do you really need the fastest connection, with the best download bandwidth? Husband
and I are constantly downloading and streaming, but we've managed to
slash our already low bill in half for 2014, saving us $180 this year,
just by downgrading to the next tier of service, and we've barely
noticed a difference.
I only wish I had this option to scale down, dial up stool exists....and for those of you who don't know what dial up is, google it....(yes I have Bern asked a couple times what dial up is).so scaling down my grandfathered unlimited on my Verizon bill is not even an option...uh jealous here.....
