Whatcha Thinkin' 'Bout? Oh Just Dollars

I was hanging around my parents' house the other night with my sister who's visiting for a short stint of leave from the Army, when Mom brings up how annoyed she is with Pinterest regarding money.

I was confused to say the least, since I love the resources I find on there. I had to know, was she complaining about Pinterest itself, or was she looking for someone's help finding solutions?

Turns out she was genuinely trying to find a more helpful list to cut costs, and kept coming across the same five or six concepts, which were completely useless for households already Pinching Pennies.

I must agree, I've gotten tired of reading "pack a lunch" and "make coffee at home." Other offenders are, "turn off the lights when you leave a room," "walk, don't drive," "use a fan instead of A/C," and our favorite to bash, "turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth."

Are you fucking kidding me!? Who the hell does this stuff? Never in my life have I seen someone run the tap while brushing.

A lot of the struggles I notice with people budgeting and cutting corners is the human condition - different strokes for different folks. What's important to my household may not matter to yours, and of course vice-versa.

I'm putting together a humongous post, which I had to extend to multiples, explaining habits that Husband and I utilize in order to shave off the bottom line of our expenditures. Some of these tips may seem obvious to you, but someone else may not have considered them, so take each tip with that tasty grain of salt.

All of these bullet points will link to a post by the end of the week, so be patient please!

There may be more posts added to this list in the future, in which case I will update you nice people on my facebook feed.
Didn't find what you were looking for? Let me know in the comments, and surely I will deliver!

  1. You return your tap off while brushing your teeth......I need to keep sliding my brush under it for full effect

    1. I had no idea anyone did that, and now I feel like an asshole.

  2. "Never in my life have I seen someone run the tap while brushing." IKR?!? That always struck me as so obvious. I'm reading posts backwards, so I've already seen a couple of your tip lists. Good stuff there. For me, it's almost always about being smart about food. We spend A LOT on food, so if I actually make a menu and lists, I save a bunch.
