There's an underlying theme throughout this episode about being someone else, or not recognizing yourself. It's very loudly embodied as a metaphor in the gentleman who cuts off his own foot as a result of body dysmorphic disorder. Shit. Was. Intense.
I couldn't really get behind Meredith's haunting with Ellis. Was she suffering from a lack of closure? Was she feeling inadequate? Was losing Derrick making her realize she really wasn't being extraordinary?
I always have a hard time relating to or even really understanding Meredith's thought processes, so I drew a blank on this episode. I did, however, enjoy her choice of burial site for Ellis' ashes. It was absolutely beautiful.
As a side note, can we all take a moment to laugh loudly at Erica?
