Season 5 Episode 19 - Elevator Love Letter
PTSD is some terrifying shit.
I am deeply impressed with Cristina standing by Owen after almost dying at his hands. Anyone would have understood if she bailed after that incident. Meredith even threatened to kill him!
PTSD is unfortunately a somewhat mysterious territory. While doctors have begun to understand how and why it manifests, it seems that the condition affects everyone quite differently. That's the horrific part. It's a very inconsistent reactionary issue that ranges from depressive, violent, manic, to almost euphoric behaviors - all of which are maladjustments to their trauma.
While I say all this, I don't mean to instill more fear. I hope that everyone who encounters a survivor of any trauma can reach out and try to understand how confusing and scary this resulting condition can be for them. Too many people need help, and becoming isolated due to a serious medical issue is all too easy, and this is why Cristina's character deserves applause for even trying.
