I cannot get over how rude this lady is. To a certain degree I can sympathize with her frustrations and lack of interest in her own surgery, considering that she's already suffered multiple failed attempts. I can even get behind the fear of success. She's become so accustomed to the life she has built around being mute, and even defined herself by it in her blogging career.
Despite all of my sympathy and understanding for her feelings, I still can't excuse how incredibly rude she is! She makes no effort to acknowledge, make eye contact, or even react to Mark explaining the surgery. She's mute, not deaf. Did her manners come out with her cancer?
Again, I can see how things have become cold between her and her husband. It's easy to fall into habits of neglect with the people we spend the most time with. It's so sad though. She won't look at him, won't smile, nod, no interaction. It can't be for a lack of feelings, because she sure has a lot to say in her blog, which she is endlessly typing.
Luckily it pays off when she finally gets the gusto to try speaking after a hopefully successful surgery. Seeing the loving smiles exchanged as they say hi once again is absolutely beautiful. Every time I watch this scene I catch myself smiling right along with them. :D
