Top Ten Things That Need to Change

My blog sucks.
If it didn't suck, there'd be tons of brilliant people flocking here to read and comment! Alas, there are few and far between that grace This Fuckin' House.

I've been thinking about this, and I've realized some reasons This Fuckin' House sucks.

Things I Need to Do to Suck Less

10) Stop doing top ten posts. No one likes this shit.

9) Follow through on prior posts.

I know you haven't forgotten...

8) Stop trying to make interactive posts.

7) Get more involved with Pinterest

6) Wear more low-cut shirts.

5) More men without shirts - ladies...

4) MOAR PINTEREST

3) Focus more on women's health, and mental health too.

2) Using a real camera for photos.

1) THERE'S STILL NOT ENOUGH PINTEREST

I Made Some Walls Pretty!

Husband asked me to make some important phone calls the other day, and miraculously my leg felt strong, and I had an urge to do anything but make phone calls! It was incredibly coincidental, I tell ya!

I began roaming the house, looking for a project that would be long enough to make me feel like I had adequately procrastinated, but simple enough that I wouldn't be punished by my knee later for having done it.

Thus, I stumbled upon a box of shelves that needed mounting, and ...

I also rearranged my mantle, and put up some cute lights!

Spoilers Sunday: Passion

Installment #3 in this roller coaster series definitely kept my interest this time.

    • By A. L. Myers on June 14, 2011

"After the last book, Torment, I was pretty excited to see more of Luce and Daniel's story and how her past lives played into their current love. Passion does not disappoint. The reader is taken through many of their different romances and you learn along with Luce how much they really do love each other.

It was a nice change of pace to have the chapters alternate between Luce and Daniel and get his perspective on different situations, considering we didn't know very much about him for the first two books. We finally get more of his personality and his feelings for Luce.

One of the things I was a bit disappointed about is that there wasn't much room for any of the supporting characters that I know many of us have come to love: Arianne, Shelby, Steven/Francesca, etc. However, considering that this is Luce's journey through her past lives, there isn't really much room for others beyond her and Daniel and some cameos from the others."
In this book, we get to see some pretty well done time travel. I'm usually not a fan of going back in time, and I especially hate trying to keep track of time paradoxes.
Lauren Kate handled the concepts well by introducing Bill, an almost adorable stone gargoyle in pocket-size, to keep Luce straight on the rules and limitations as she visits the horrors of her and Daniel's past love(s) together.
The time periods are handled quite accurately, dating back almost to the origin of mankind. I especially enjoyed seeing Luce in one of her prior lives be a total bitch. It's realistic, to me, to see a character face their own flaws, and Kate authored that scene beautifully.

We finally see some method to the madness, and why it is Luce is so crazy for Daniel, beyond his good looks. Unfortunately, the entire story ping-pongs between the two of them, leaving little room for development of the support characters - read Cam. That guy has Ian Somerhalder smolder going on, and I had NONE to enjoy!

The progression of Luce's self-discovery comes to an apex when she realizes Bill, the brusque, helpful little pudgester, is actually the Devil in disguise, trying to get her to screw up history and ruin just everything!!
      WHATTA DICK.

I'll leave you with that tantalizing tidbit, and hope you read this one, cause it was a nice journey almost worthy of standalone status. Almost.

Check in next week for closure on this saga, in the underwhelming Rapture.

Spoiler Saturday: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Bueller... Bueller...

I know this John Huges classic is from 1986,
but I've recently found out many of my peers have never seen it!

    • Ferris Bueller has played hooky numbers of times, and this time he's got the entire school and more believing he is on the verge of death. On this special day off, Ferris invites his friend Cameron Fry and girlfriend Sloane Peterson to his day of fun, while taking Cameron's father's precious Ferrari for transportation. All the while, the principal Ed Rooney is determined to prove Ferris is faking his illness and Ferris's agitated sister Jeanie also has a goal to catch Ferris off guard. Ferris enjoys his day with his friends, until the mileage of the Ferrari reads one too many miles driven and Cameron has a blow out.

Why is it so important to see this movie?
I WILL TELL YOU.

First of all, come on guys, it's John-motherfucking-Hughes!
Since when has he ever steered us wrong???

Second, there's an awesome spontaneous scene when Ferris takes over a parade.

There's some philosophical discussions.

And of course more shenannigans.

In and amongst all of this, Ferris' sister and the Dean of Students are trying to catch him.

Which of course leads to more hilarity.

It's a fun ride, which I recommend everyone try at least once.

I Feel Super Cute!

Admittedly this day was pretty terrible, but I'm not about to unload that on you nice people.
For my direct subscribers, I know you'll call my bluff and say, "Anna, you wrote this on Saturday!! Why are you deceiving us?!" To which I reply, "Shhh, just go with it. I had an off day and needed to regroup."

You see, Husband and I have made a habit of going to Louisiana for Christmas every year, and I'm still sort of recovering from the combination of travel and a badly timed chest cold.

But enough complaining.

Here's what I got for Christmas that has made This Fuckin' House super cute!

There's of course Husband's lovely gifts. We all know when I feel cute, This Fuckin' House is that much better.

This adorable hand-made headband/earmuff from my niece, Amanda. It coincidentally matches a sweater-dress I ordered right before we left for Louisiana, which means I get to look all coordinated and adorable now!

The most snuggly, fleecey, Christmasy throw I've ever felt, from my sister-in-law, Stacy. She says she bought it for us to make holiday snuggles in, but I'll admit I've absconded it to my bedroom-lair to pretty up my snuggle chair.

And an unexpectedly generous, heartfelt gesture from Husband's Aunt Jeannie. Without background it's hard to really convey how much this one means to me. This is the first visit in which she and I have really bonded, and she said some very personal, kind things when she gave this to me to open.

There's just a lot of feels going around This Fuckin' House, and really I need a kleenex and some recoup time. More silliness is promised for next week!!

You didn't think I'd do a Bueller post without this one, did you?!
