while making a new friend, Tiffany, who puts a colorful spin on Pat's perspective of his struggles.
Pat, in his delusional concept of self,
believes Tiffany is the one who needs saving, and even goes so far to compare
himself to as better than her when he is shocked by her confessed behaviors.
The entire film is an emotional ride,
sitting side-by-side in empathy with these two characters in their constant battle
to make their diverging paths parallel toward a similar goal - happiness.
Oh yeah, and there's also an incredibly adorable dance competition!
Loved this movie beyond all reason. (I really appreciated the wall bipolarity was handled.)
ReplyDeleteI was very surprised by it, as I had no clue what it was about when I sat down to watch it. I love how they handled both characters' perspectives of their mental struggles, and they absolutely nailed it with Pat's bipolarity!
DeleteIt's one of the first films I've ever seen centered on mental health as an aspect of someone's life, instead of their defining characteristic and some bane on their existence. People should learn that these sort of issues shouldn't be swept under the rug as something ugly. It's not any different than trying to live with asthma or diabetes, just another lifestyle adaptation.
