But What About Second Breakfast?

Without a set schedule in my day-to-day, my eating habits range from anorexic to semi-constant grazing. I either am so engrossed in something or feel so crappy that I forget to eat, or need to constantly be putting something in my mouth. It was more common when I was a teenager to forget to eat, because I drank a lot of soda and kept busy in 18 hour days. Now, I more often enact the latter issue, eating just to eat.

We all know I love food, especially eating it. It's tasty stuff, and makes you feel good in your body and such, so it would make sense that I don't typically stick to the "three meals a day" schtick.

At the peak of my health as an "athlete," I maintained a snack diet. Not to mean junk food, but just snack sized portions spaced out every couple hours. I ate a lot more fruits/veggies, yogurt, and smaller portioned meals, often centered on lean proteins. It's a pretty solid method, since you get a "break" from whatever you're doing for a quick 5-10 minutes, as well as an energy boost. This was also before I had as many food allergies as I do now, so it was easier to maintain a strong variety of micro-nutrient sources (fruit, nuts, raw veggies).

I'm hoping to get back to that, since I felt a lot more energetic then, and weighed less, even in the off season. Also, eating more fresh foods is easier on the wallet, albeit somewhat more labor intensive. With my lack of exercise, I'm not seeing that as a bad thing as I watch my spare tire inflate.

What kind of meal habits do you keep? Are you a three meal, many meal, or snacker?
