Not only did we not make it on time, but our GPS died on the way and got us "lost." Luckily, we realized this at a small crossroads town with a family owned convenience store. We got to meet a really nice lady, who helped us get some snacks and directions.

Day Three: Are We There Yet?
We left Las Cruces in the morning, foolishly thinking we could make it up to Fort Sumner in the early evening.
Fort Sumner was not graced with our presence until 8 o'clock, when apparently the whole town shuts down. Literally everything but the Super 8 motel was closed, locked, and dead. The desk clerk was surprised to even encounter life at such an unheard of hour.
