After the enlightening detour, we hit our first stop for our Tombstone visit.
Bootstrap Cemetery is a historical site in which many big names are buried, along with the history of others who have passed on in Tombstone. It was first put together in the early 1920's, with families of the departed contributing their records, as well as voluntary efforts, to memorialize these people. It was an interesting as well as somber place to visit.
The visit was actually pretty neat, especially since the more bleak aspects of the place were perforated with light humor and some racist allusions that were probably meant to be taken seriously.
Included in this site is a Jewish "Cemetery" and Memorial. Nobody actually seems to be buried there, and there was no information available to explain exactly why Jewish folks needed a memorial there. Needless to say, I was annoyed I gimped almost half a mile just to see a rock that essentially said, "For the Jews!," on it with no further details on their contributions to this town. Everyone else had a story, dammit!
Very very cool...
