In the middle of basically nowhere, we discovered this community, who were pretty much absent for a Monday afternoon.
I bolted off as quick as a handicrapped person could once the car was parked, headed in the direction of their beautiful chapel.
I could hear Mass proceedings, so I didn't see the inside, which I'm sure was lovely. Instead I perused the area, including Mary's grotto in the middle of a lake. My phone camera did not do it justice, so I moved on to their meditation garden.
The big message across this community was the idea of togetherness in all faiths. There was a lot of imagery and symbols to draw on that emphasized their cause, including that unity bridge above.
There were a lot more Catholic relics and sites that were equally impressive to me as the giant cross, but most of them were in sacred areas and/or unable to be photographed.
This was definitely one of our better unplanned stops, as we both got to see, learn, and experience something shared as well as new to us.
Oh, this is gorgeous. What a lucky find.
ReplyDeleteIt really was! I'm so glad we stopped.
